Associate Client and Risk Manager Real Estate Credit

Responsibilities

Munich Re’s Structure Portfolio Solutions (SPS) team primarily underwrites portfolios of credit risks from banks/financial institutions (FIs) either as reinsurance (Münchener Rückversicherungs AG) or as primary insurance (GLISE).

To complement our heterogeneous team of experts, we are looking for your thorough expertise in loan portfolio underwriting and structuring in the fields of residential and commercial real estate.

• Underwriting business either as portfolio or individual risks with a focus on residential & commercial real estate loans (US and Europe)
• Establishing and growing client relationships
• Focusing on existing business as well as new business initiatives on FIs regulatory as well as risk-capital steering
• Maintaining relationships with customers and cooperation partners in the area of risk transfer and according structures as well as regulation
• Assessing risks of offered portfolio and individual transactions, in cooperation with a deal team if necessary, with a focus on the qualitative underwriting of the loan pool (incl. in some cases individual loans) and the risk-transfer structure
• Analysing banks/financial institutions with regard to their product know-how/market position in the relevant product areas

Requirements

• Uni­ver­si­ty degree in busi­ness administration/economics or engineering/natural sci­ences cou­pled with busi­ness administration
• Sev­er­al years of pro­fes­sion­al expe­ri­ence in cred­it investment/banking sec­tor, in par­tic­u­lar in residential/commercial real estate loan prod­ucts and ide­al­ly either field of: securitisation/structuring, reg­u­la­to­ry / risk-cap­i­tal mod­el­ling or rating/scoring methods
• Expe­ri­ence in underwriting/portfolio man­age­ment of invest­ments in struc­tured cred­it port­fo­lio prod­ucts and/or cash flow-based financ­ing desir­able, in par­tic­u­lar desir­able with knowl­edge with regard to the reg­u­la­to­ry cap­i­tal relief effect of port­fo­lio trans­ac­tions is desirable
• Con­fi­dent appear­ance and high social com­pe­tence towards cus­tomers and colleagues
• Supe­ri­or ana­lyt­i­cal skills in con­junc­tion with a pro­nounced aware­ness of risk as well as deal-clos­ing, along with a will­ing­ness and abil­i­ty to jus­ti­fy deci­sions in a clear and com­pre­hen­si­ble manner
• Team spir­it, and team-play­er, ini­tia­tive, abil­i­ty to work inde­pen­dent­ly, solu­tion-ori­ent­ed thinking
• Sol­id rel­e­vant IT skills (MS Office 365 suite, in par­tic­u­lar Excel, Share­Point, Pow­er BI, SQL Serv­er, etc.)
• Abil­i­ty to con­duct nego­ti­a­tions in Eng­lish, knowl­edge of Ger­man is of advan­tage, oth­er­wise will­ing­ness to learn German
